Time and Place

The MDI Photo Club meets from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Mellon Room at the Northeast Harbor Library (see map).

Meeting Format

Our two hour meetings seem barely long enough, but we know that people have lives, families, and things to do the next morning, so we try to end on time. Meetings generally follow this format:

  • Welcome
  • Announcements
  • Presentation or Workshop
  • Break
  • Slideshow of Outing and Share photos
  • Critique (learn more)

We want to see your photos at the next meeting!
Please read how to Submit Photos for the Upcoming Meeting.

Presentations and Workshops

The 2016 Survey Results revealed that people’s greatest interest is learning how to take better pictures and how to get better results from post processing. With these things in mind, we are making education a priority as we line up speakers and plan outings for this season.

The presentation/workshop portion of the meeting lasts about an hour. In past years we had mostly speakers, but moving forward we hope to have about an equal mix of speakers and workshops. If you have an idea for a future meeting, please share it with our Programs Coordinator.

To see a list of the presentations from past meetings, see the Past Activities page. To see photos from those meetings, see the Galleries page.

Monthly Assignments

Each month our curator gives an optional photo assignment that club members can choose to do as a way of expanding their photographic horizons. Members who choose to do the assignment can share their results at the next club meeting. People who opt out can submit any photos they like at the meeting. It’s totally up to you!

Attend a Meeting to See How You Like It

Anyone is welcome to attend a meeting or two to decide whether to join, but if you like what you see, please help the club pay its expenses by becoming a dues-paying member for only $25 annually. See the Membership page to learn about the benefits and how to join.
