Expand Your Photographic Horizons

One of the many benefits of being in the MDI Photo Club is the opportunity to go on members-only outings. A recent survey of photo club members revealed the top reasons why club members attend outings:

  • Shooting in places I don’t usually shoot (90%)
  • Access to places I couldn’t visit on my own (84%)
  • Socializing (68%)
  • Encourages me to get out and shoot more (66%)
  • Learning from other photographers (63%)

Outings usually occur on a Saturday, between the monthly meetings. Most outings are held on MDI, but occasionally we explore off-island. Members meet to practice photography skills in a variety of settings, both indoors and outside.

Special arrangements are sometimes made to visit locations you might not otherwise be able to visit, such as a tour of the interior of the Bass Harbor Head Light, an excursion to a private island, or going behind the scenes in the historic 1932 Criterion Theatre.

Some outings are members-only due to restricted permissions or space. Please ask permission from the  Outings Coordinator before inviting a guest.

Guests must sign a Release of Liability Form  before attending an outing.
